Who we are

The Zambia Property Owners Association (‘ZAPOA’) was incorporated in Zambia under the Societies Act, Chapter 119 as a ‘not for profit’ association on 9 June 2014. ZAPOA encourages participation to promote the expansion of Zambia’s commercial and industrial property sectors.

ZAPOA is a unique, member driven organisation that aims to represent, protect and advance members’ commercial and industrial property interests within the property industry in terms of ownership, management and development. Its objectives are based on the principles of the free enterprise system, as the only workable economic system and the inalienability of property ownership, not only for its members but also for the future of Zambia, and its competitiveness in the world arena.

ZAPOA’s core objective is to represent and promote the interests of the real estate sector in Zambia. We shall collaborate with other business groupings and foster strong ties with Government and regional counterparts.

Our Role as ZAPOA is to continue to encourage the concept of private property ownership and development, and the rewards to be gained by the formerly disadvantaged members of the Zambian community.

Our aim is to:

  • Issue clear standpoints on matters relevant to the property industry where the interests of its members and the economy as a whole are threatened;
  • Encourage formerly disadvantaged members of the community to become involved as owners, developers, employees and managers in the property industry;
  • Enable wider participation in the industry and greater involvement in the affairs of the association by all players through education programmes;
  • Provide a source of information useful not only to our members but also to government at various levels and the industry as a whole, through a significant involvement in the collection and dissemination of property data and statistics;
  • Further expand contacts with government at all levels to ensure our continued good relations and recognition as the authoritative voice of the commercial and industrial property industry.

Our objectives are to:

  1. Protect the interests of the residential, commercial, industrial and other real property sectors, in terms of ownership, management and development;
  2. Maintain a unique organisation which encourages its members to share their expertise through active participation in the association;
  3. Provide a source of information useful not only to our members but also to government at various levels and the industry as a whole, through a significant involvement in the collection and dissemination of property data and statistics;
  4. Foster key relationships whilst maintaining government acceptability;
  5. Maintain a non-political bias whilst participating in governmental legislative structures;
  6. Contribute through excellence in educational programmes and setting quality standards; and
  7. Provide an efficient forum for responding to change.
